I had a most enjoyable with one of the owners of Super-8 Sound. He was nice to me and spent 30 minutes discussing various topics of film stocks and transfering it. When we got on the subject of Kodachrome, he said that if properly shot, it looks sharper that the 50asa negative ro8mm film. He went on to say that the difference between the two are exposure lattitude and that colors on K-40 are vibrant but tend to bleed within that colored area. Like if you are seeing a tree with K-40 you notice how green it is. With the neg. you see differings green details. The problem as he sees it with K-40 is that the consistance of the handling of the processing is not the way it was in the past. You get bloshes and marks on the film.
Where as they have high standards at S8S and can monitor the cleanliness. Is anyone aware of all the places in the US and Canada that does K-40 processing. I'm planning on shooting a political commerical soon and am in the information gathering stage. Thanks.

All I shoot is Kodachrome. I have my RANK transfers done with CinePost in Atlanta. The colorist there likes to work with reversals more than the neg stocks. I don't like Super8 Sound's stocks. I think that they are a scam and have done more to kill Super8 than Kodak. I am a Pro shooter and I try to shoot as much Super8 as I can. I really like Kodachrome--I have had some problems with Dwayne's Photo who is the last place in the USA to process Kodachrome. Good Luck and if you want more info email me.
